The kitchen table is nearly sacred. Hot cocoa on a snowy day. Pumpkin pie (seconds) on Thanksgiving. Secrets and small talk and celebrations happen here.
No doubt, we took the search for a new kitchen table and chairs, curtains and “something” for the wall seriously. Upfront, we told Vi and Brian that we’d love to find them a farm table and pair it with something more modern. Indoor/outdoor rug from Lowe’s.
Here’s the BEFORE.
We found the farm table with reclaimed walnut at Broadway Antique Mall in Edmond. For the chairs, we searched hundreds of modern chairs and tried out several in person, but many were rather uncomfortable for long dinner conversation. On a lucky strike, Jill found these MCM chairs from a lovely couple in Mustang so we made the trek to pick them up. Originally the chairs were brown and while in good condition, did show some age from the last 50 years. We opted to paint them since so much of the house is in brown already and this would provide a “pop” of color in the nook. We used (and loved) Valspar Primer and Paint in gloss. We recovered the seats in an ivory and beige stripe.
The drapes are from Target and the circle theme is continued in the chair as well as the large clock, which we found at Hobby Lobby.
Love this view into the nook from the family room, too. We’ll be adding blinds next for more privacy.
We’re finishing up the master bedroom and will post before and afters soon. Until then, if you have a decorating question for us so you can love the space you’re in, leave it in comments or message us on Facebook.
