AIA OKC Architecture Tour Part 1: Guardian Lofts

by Malena Lott

As an architecture junkie, the AIA tour in Oklahoma City is one of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon. Complete arch eye candy. While I was only able to visit two stops on the tour this year due to conflicts, I was able to bring you two goodies: the Guardian Lofts owned by the Midtown Renaissance Group located at 1117 N. Robinson in Oklahoma City and the Kliewer (George Seminoff) private home in North OKC. Both were projects by Fitzsimmons Architects.

Guardian Lofts are prime real estate for those wanting to be in the thick of downtown action. Sure, these owners are single guys but they would be ideal for couples of any age, too. Hey, a pull out couch is all you need for a sleepover guest after a Thunder game, right? I call the couch! The first loft belongs to photographer Todd Scott. Love his vibe. Both of these apartments are well-appointed and show the residents’ personal style, which is what really matters. These also prove you can pack a lot of style into a small space!

Thanks so much to Melissa Hunt and everyone at AIA for the tickets and stellar job on the tour. Looking forward to April 11, 2015. Come back tomorrow for the Kliewer tour.

Love the mismatched chairs. Steal this look.
Nothing says, "I love you" like an island that reads, "I love you."

Peeling paint and original photography = design win.

My favorite thing about Todd’s loft: His window and the message. See his workspace in front of it.

Yummy color, perfectly placed.

Second loft sits in the corner pocket upstairs for extra doses of sunshine. The resident’s girlfriend owns Plenty Mercantile and helped stage the space according to the tour guide.

A vintage dentist’s cart as a bar? LOVE.

Not only is the bookshelf perfectly decorated but we get more bull in a yummy red orange. Ole!

Terracotta accent wall and longhorns above a bed? Gives “grab the bull by the horns” a whole new perspective. Me likes.
